Are you ready to take your photography to the next level, from snapshot shooter to photographer—to stop “taking pictures” and start “making pictures”? If so, then this course is for you! Photographic Composition is a course where you learn nuances such as getting everything you want in the shot, and avoiding what you don’t want, whether you’re just starting or have been shooting for years. You’ll learn about lighting, positioning your subjects or objects, and post processing to include color and contrast enhancement, and the all-important cropping. Another important aspect of this course is networking. You’ll learn about local and national photography organizations and how they benefit you. You’ll also learn about getting involved in gallery exhibitions and possibly getting your work shown, and more important, sold!

Gary Michael Smith has been photographing for more than 20 years and has worked with such companies as Lockheed-Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, CACI, eVenture, and the American Heart Association. He currently serves as editorial photojournalist and Special Assignment Editor for Louisiana Film and Video magazine, and has served as gallery photo exhibit curator as well as photo competition juror. Mr. Smith is a former board member of the American Society of Media Photographers, and is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, Photographic Society of America, New Orleans Photo Alliance, and the Greater New Orleans Photographic Society.
